This year my last full work week (the week of December 14th) will be at the Lean Experience. I’m feeling good today about ending on that note, since January 2009 wasn’t a particularly good way for anyone to begin this year. The Lean Experience program is what we build the Lean Learning Center around. Although it’s change, drastically in fact, over the years as we have learned and improved, this program represented the core of our beliefs about making lean work.

This is a fun week. A ton of lightbulbs turn on. Novices get the picture, and experts become better coaches. I can’t think of a better way for me to end the year.

I am going to be wrapping up the year rolling out our first phase of policy deployment. Just finished Executive level plan and business unit level plans before Thanksgiving break. Now we head into plant level. First time doing this globally. Rolling up all our plans for next year. We still need to finish strong but reflection and replanning is needed as we move forward.
Jamie,
I was in that class and will carry its lessons with me for the rest of my days! The Lean Experience would be a great way for anyone to wrap up their year. Thanks for reflecting, learning, writing, teaching, and blogging!
Thanks for the comments.
Tim, I’m glad your organization is ready for that step. Most organizations struggle to really make hoshin work unless they reach a certain level of maturity in their lean thinking.
