Integrity

Some people believe integrity is something you are born with, or not. I don’t believe that, simply because I’ve seen people completely change their behaviors. In this next video of the Cultural Transformation Video Series, we explore the role integrity plays in leading culture change.

Integrity is about the match between your words and your actions, between your espoused principles and your behaviors. Can you live up to your own standards all the time? I highly doubt it. And that can hurt your integrity. There’s only one thing you can do – and I talk about it in this video.

An excellent post not just for cultural transformation but for all of life. Being able to admit that there’s a gap between your principles and your own behavior requires an inner honesty and humility that I find is rare. It is evidence of a strength of character and not a weakness. A leader who is willing to be transparent can become a model for others to see personal growth.

For my first retail job in hight school, I was asked by the hiring manager how I defined integrity. I can’t remember what I said but that question has always stood out to me as very important to ask when forming a team.

Great message. I could see how being open and honest about our gaps would reduce the stress associated with not living up to our ideals, while at the same time maintaining the tension necessary to drive personal improvement.

Since it seems easier to act your way into a new way of thinking, what are some tools & techniques for being more transparent about our gaps? I’m thinking problem-solving A3′s based on our personal gaps.

By the way, I love these short videos.
